Yes, it’s true. There is a celebration for the things we love nearly every day and every month. Like National Apple Month in October. But today, now, in the month of April, we are celebrating the beloved grilled cheese sandwich. Not just one day, but a whole month that gives us plenty of time to indulge in some delicious grilled goodness. Thanks to Pinterest we’ve rounded up some of the best grilled cheese sandwiches that feature some of our favorite apples and pears.

The beauty of grilled cheese sandwiches are the multiple combinations of breads, cheeses, sauces, proteins, greens, fruit and more. Sweet or savory you can mix it up for endless, delicious combinations of gooey, crispy goodness.

Here are some of our favorites.

There is of course the classic apple and brie griller from Kailley’s Kitchen but she takes it up a notch with thyme infused butter.

Recipe Girl also ups her grilled cheese game by adding a little cranberry sauce to her grilled apple and brie grilled cheese sandwich with a touch of sweet and tart.

TIP: Adding a sauce or spread to your grilled cheese sandwich totally ups your culinary game. Try spicy mustards, sweet jams or tangy spreads to create a sweet or savory effect. A personal favorite with apples and pears – fig jam.

Apples aren’t the only ingredient perfect for grilled cheese sandwiches or brie, but we also know that bacon makes everything better and this sandwich is proof.

If you’ve ever seen someone put cheddar cheese on apple pie it totally makes sense to do sharp cheddar and apples on a grilled cheese sandwich.

When it comes to cheese, think outside of the box. Even blue cheese can make a great grilled cheese as this recipe for Pear, Blue Cheese and Caramelized Onion Grilled Cheese proves.

TIP: Add some tender greens like spinach or arugula to your grilled cheese for not only added nutrition and color, but an additional fresh flavor that helps cut the creamy flavor of the cheese.

And if it’s protein you crave, don’t despair…Diethood has your back with this ham and grilled cheese sandwich that has what?  Well, apples of course.

But if you’re a little more turkey than ham, The Novice Chef has a solution with this Apple, Cheddar and Turkey Panini.

And my research lead me to this tasty morsel we can’t wait to try. Pulled Pork and Apples made in the crock pot and used for grilled cheese sandwiches among other things. It’s like the lottery of meal planning and deliciousness.

Pears are a tender powerhouse in any grilled cheese and Foodie Crush is sending us over the top with this Sweet Pear & Rosemary Honey with Havarti Grilled Cheese. It’s like the recipe is speaking to my soul. I can only imagine how it tastes and I’m thankful for 30 days to try 30 sandwiches.

And finally the Cookin’ Canuck surprised us with this grilled cheese recipe that includes your basic pear and brie, but ups the game with arugula and hazelnuts for some additional crunch.

I don’t know about you, but hear at Rainier Fruit we’re pretty sure that every one of our apples or pears would make a delicious filling in your next your grilled cheese sandwich. Not just in April, but in every month of the year. Let your creativity go wild and show us what you’ve got in between the bread.
